Chief among them, unfortunately, is that it just doesnвЂ™t run very well. Now, you may have heard this already, but Mass Effect: Andromeda isnвЂ™t without its faults. Your numbers are going to vary based on the strength of your hardware, but they should be proportional - for instance, turning down your resolution or lighting settings wonвЂ™t yield the exact same frame rates we experienced, but the relative amount they change should be about the same. ItвЂ™s important to point out that weвЂ™re not testing this PCвЂ™s hardware, weвЂ™re testing how the game performs with different settings. We ran, jumped, and shot our way through a varied outdoor environment, gleefully frolicked in an extraterrestrial pond, and ran a circuit inside a space ship.

For most of our tests, weвЂ™ll be running the game in 1440p. ThatвЂ™s a pretty powerful machine, so it should be able to get the most out of Mass Effect: Andromeda with all the settings maxed out. To make sure that our internal components werenвЂ™t going to drag performance down, we used an Intel Core i7-6950X CPU, clocked at 3.0GHz, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB of RAM. To test Mass Effect: Andromeda we used a PC with a mix of high-end and mid-range components. Whether youвЂ™re a seasoned PC gamer looking to get the most out of an old PC, or a newcomer looking to decipher all those settings in the graphics menu, weвЂ™ve got you covered. So, weвЂ™ve gone ahead and tested each individual setting in Mass Effect, to determine which ones have the biggest impact on your performance, and on how your game looks overall. Finding a balance between performance and aesthetics is always tricky, especially with demanding games like Mass Effect: Andromeda. Unfortunately, that means your game is going to look like a hot mess, all jagged edges and blurry textures. Just turn all the graphic and video settings down to the bare minimum, run that cutting-edge game in 800Г—600, and even the lowest-end PC can hit upwards of 100 frames per second. Getting the best performance you can out of a PC game - even a brand-new one like Mass Effect: Andromeda is easy. LetвЂ™s talk about the 'First Murderer' - one of the very first Heleus assignments you picked up when you first got to the Nexus. With all of the heavy lifting done, youвЂ™ve got the time to poke around on Eos a little and clear out some of those to-do list items that have been stacking up. YouвЂ™ll learn all about these from Director Addison and her assistant Vladimir Brecka after you complete Mass Effect: Andromeda's'A Better Beginning' priority ops mission on Eos. YouвЂ™ll also earn a few here and there from Heleus assignments and additional tasks. YouвЂ™ll earn these points from completing tasks on planets - especially from activating terraformers and establishing outposts.

As you earn the points by doing things that make the Heleus cluster more livable, youвЂ™ll hit Nexus thresholds that allow you to wake the next block of colonists you choose.Д®ach block has associated rewards - things like additional research points, additional resources or inventory expansions.ДЄndromeda Viability Points are shown in the upper right corner of your menu screen. AVP Cryo Deployment PerksДЄVPs are the Andromeda InitiativeвЂ™s gamification of the order in which settlers get thawed out.

You wonвЂ™t be able to launch another probe inside this radius - which means youвЂ™re only going to be able to launch one probe per deposit (per visit to the planet), so chose the location carefully.

ThereвЂ™s a radius around the probe marked by a glowing orange line. When you find somewhere with satisfactorily high concentrations of whichever element you prefer, launch your probe to collect it. Your job is to drive around a little bit and watch those lines. (There are no numbers associated with the graphs, so itвЂ™s still a bit of a gamble).Д¬hances are, when you first open up the computer, those graphs will all be at zero, meaning thereвЂ™s nothing there - no matter what SAM, that blinking icon or your map are telling you. These indicate the (letвЂ™s call it) size of the deposits of the various elements youвЂ™ll find. Open up your mining computer (on consoles, you do this by pressing right on the D-pad) and watch the graphs. When you get close to one of the mining locations marked on your map, the mining computer icon in the upper left of your screen will start blinking. This is similar to the minerals above, but on a larger scale. YouвЂ™ll also get a new mining icon on your map. Shortly after you pick up your Nomad ( Mass Effect: AndromedaвЂ™s version of the Mako), youвЂ™ll start getting tips and hints about mining, but not much in the way of explanation.
